Commonly used to describe food processing and packaging techniques for non-refrigerated storage or long life products. It is a process where product free of bacterial contamination is packaged in a sterile container in a way that maintains safety. Aseptic technique, is the process of microbiological sampling in an almost sterile way to ensure there is no bacterial or fungal contamination of the food product.
