Preservative, as categorised by Food Standards Agency. A synthetic preservative more effective against fungi than bacteria. Suitable for all dietary types including Vegans.
This preservative has been banned in some countries including France. This is because it along with other benzoates are known to exacerbate eczema and asthma in children who suffer from these similar to allergenic reactions. Naturally occurring Benzoates are found in a large range of berries.
