The vessel that is used to convert the starches in crushed grains into sugars prior to the fermentation process. The Mash Mixing Vessel (also called Mash Tun) is usually insulated to maintain a constant temperature and most have a false bottom and spigot to allow the contents of the mash to be sparged with hot water.
